The most common cause of an issue of this kind is that the incoming email was blocked in an attempt to filter out spam (even though that email was not really spam). This blocking may have been done by your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or host, by your email program, or by special anti-spam software (which sometimes is part of an antivirus package).
Messages thought to be spam are sometimes (but not always) diverted to a folder designated Spam, Trash, Junk, or Deleted Items. If you know where to look, go to it. Otherwise, your first step should probably be to phone your ISP and ask.
