Facebook Text Messaging

i want to activate fb text messaging on my new account but the problem is that i already used that number for my previous account now when i have deleted my mobile number from my previous account and have deactivated previous account i am still unable to activate fb text messaging on my new using that old number .. can it be done? how ?
