According to my online research, your Epson WorkForce WF-3540 machine will work on Windows 8 Operating System. If your software CD does not work properly, you can download the installer from Epson website. In fact, I provided link to the download page below.

Select the Windows 8 Operating System and download the software. Install the driver and restart your computer.
