Smell Of Gas With Oven On

Danger, Will Robinson, danger!

Most will tell you that the really worrisome scenario would be if you smell gas when the oven is NOT on.  Others would much rather error on the side of caution:

GET IT CHECKED OUT IMMEDIATELY!

Some say just call the gas company to get it checked out and they will let you know what your next steps should be.

You will notice a small amount of gas odor when near the unit or when the door is open. However if it is more than usual or way too strong, you need to turn the unit off and not use it for safety reasons. Contact your manufacturer for a service call. Gas units run a higher liability and risk, and you may need the valves or regulator looked at.
