Infant's Passport Hasn't Arrived...

Hello, We are due to fly from Liverpool to Nice on Saturday. Our 4 month old's passport hasn't yet arrived despite if being applied for 5 weeks ago and us being informed it would take 3 weeks. I'm continually chasing the passport office but if it doesn't arrive in time is there anyway our family can fly without it? Could we possibly postpone the flights for a later date? Any by help much appreciated!! Charlotte Tennant a very panicky mom! Xxx
