Turn off your car, get out, shut the door and click the lock button on your remote. This should lock all doors.
Click the unlock button once. On most vehicles, this will only unlock the driver's door. On some older vehicles, it will unlock all doors. Click the unlock button twice and all doors will unlock.
Click the panic button once, if your remote has one. This will cause some of the car lights to flash and the horn to honk. Click it again to stop it. Though this button activates the same system as the car's alarm, its purpose is not to set the alarm. It is added to the remote fob to scare away someone who is stalking you at night and draw the attention of people around you.
Click the trunk release button if your remote fob is so equipped. This will electronically open the trunk, so if you are carrying a bag of groceries you do not have to set it down to open the trunk. Many sport utility vehicles and vans have a hatch release button rather than a trunk release.
