Remove the drill's housing cover to access the wiring components.
Locate the two wires that connect to the drill's switch. These wires are usually black and white.
Disconnect the wires from the switch by gently pulling them out of the connectors. Make note of which wire connects to which terminal on the switch.
Cut a new piece of wire to the same length as the original wires.
Strip about 1/2 inch of insulation from each end of the new wire.
Connect one end of the new wire to the terminal on the switch that the original black wire was connected to. Use a wire connector to secure the wire in place.
Connect the other end of the new wire to the terminal on the switch that the original white wire was connected to. Use a wire connector to secure the wire in place.
Reconnect the switch to the drill's wiring harness by pushing the connectors back into place.
Replace the drill's housing cover.
It's important to ensure that you properly connect the wires to the switch terminals to prevent electrical problems or damage to the drill. If you're unsure about how to properly wire the switch, consult the user manual or contact Dewalt customer support for assistance.
