Dct410 Battery Or Charger Problem

Hello, I own a DCT410 inspection camera and either the battery (DCB120) or the charger (DCB100) is not working as should. I bought this camera a couple years ago and used it only once. I charged the battery when I first bought it which was the only time. The camera still has some original protective wrapping from factory and the charger cord is still wound in original tie wrap. So this unit is basically still in brand new condition with 1 use. I did not get much use out of it as the battery died fairly quick that one time. Now, about a year later I pull this out of my storage and go to charge the battery but what is happening is when I first plug in charger (without battery connected) the red indicator light flashes once then stops. Next I put the battery in and same thing happens... Red Indicator light flashes once then stops. Ive tried multiple times and ensured battery was connected all the way. I read instructions to see if I was missing something but didnt help. I am wandering if you think the problem would be the battery or the charger itself and if this type of thing would be covered under some type of warranty as everything is still in prestine condition.  Thanks in advance, Bryan

There is a battery for the detachable screen. Were you able to find the replacement battery for it? I read online that it could be the problem.

Hi, it would be hard to say exactly which component is the problem without testing it directly, but it sounds like the battery is more likely to be the culprit, since it died quickly the one time you charged it.  If you have the money, I would suggest buying a replacement battery and trying that; if it ends up being the charger, at the very least you now have an extra battery, which can often come in handy.  You could try contacting the manufacturer to see if it's under warranty, but if you've had it for a couple of years it probably is not covered any longer.

The Dewalt charger is not capable of charging a totally flat battery.
Use jumper cables or a 12 volt booster/jumper box to jump start the dead battery.
Forward contact is positive, rear is negative. Just charge with the cables for say 30 seconds, repeat increasing amounts untill Dewalt charger is capable of charging.

(Untill recently i was in the mobile phone business. It was a common practice for us to give a flat NMHI battery a quick boost off our jumper box to get the battery charging again)

If you agree that the answer I provided is correct please remember to "accept" and/or mark it as "helpful" so I know I'm doing a good job. Thank you, I would really appreciate it.

Same problem & symptoms! I barely used the tool & battery. I noticed early that the stock Dewalt 12V battery was fading prematurely. I simply bought a two pack generic battey set on eBay ($26) & these charged normally. Therefore the charger was not at fault. This is the cheapest solution. Keep a charged battery clipped on so the internal screen battery stays charged!
