How Responsible Are Airlines For Iphone And Ipad Taken During Flight?

Short flight from Florida to Atlanta on Delta. Upon landing I noticed my iPhone and iPad Missing. Notified flight attendants that were busy unloading and getting plane ready for quick reload. They suggested I report to amother gate. When I did. I had to strongly request a note that this complaint was posted Which was done on the back of a piece of cardboard? Is there anything I can do to recoup this loss? I've been forced to replace these items without any compensation from the airlines
