Air Ticket Change Problem

Hi I have bought a round trip from delta. Howver, the itineray is changed. I may want to change my schedule of returning date from Sep 4 to Aug 19. However, there is a 250 dollar charge. May I know if I could possibly waive this fee since the itinery is changed by the company first?
