I Was Booked On Another Flight And Want To Change My Seat

Please help me to upgrade to a better seat on my flight today from PHX to DTW. My original flight did not allow me to connect to my next flight due to a change in departure time. Even if I have to pay, I need a window or aisle seat, NOT a middle seat, which is why I always book my ticket way in advance. Can you help me. Flight 1821 from PHX to DTW today.

This is something I deal with frequently as airlines change flight times, flight numbers, aircraft type, frequency of service, etc. I hate when I have to advise a customer their nonstop flight is now a connection, or their arrival/departure time is drastically different than originally booked, or they now have a horrendous connection time which they didn't have before.

I empathize with you since you shouldn't have to deal with this inconvenience at the last minute through no fault of your own. In a case like this I would recommend first calling Delta at 1-800-221-1212 and explaining the situation and asking if they can move your seat due to THEIR schedule change. If they say they're unable becasue there are no more seats left for reservations to preassign, I would then ask if there are any premium seats available for purchase. Last, but not least, if that isn't an option, then ask the agent at the airport when you check in to help relocate your seat. The airport agents have more ability to modify seat assignments than general reservations because they have control of all seats on the entire aircraft, whereas general reservations is restricted to a percentage of seats on any given flight.
