Would My Laptop Operate If I Didn't Insert The Battery, But Kept It

constantly connected to the outlet?

Yes it would work if its still connected to the outlet. However I do not suggest this since if the connection to the outlet is cut even for a second, your computer would immediately turn off since it has no power to provide itself.
