Dell Latitude E6430 Headset Mic Not Working

I bought a new headset from Philips. It has 2 seperate pins for Microphone and Music. It has also got the mute button to it. They have provided an adaptor to plugin both the pins to it and then plugin the adaptor to jack provided on the laptop. But when, I plugin that and mute the mic, I can still record my voice. But when mute the inbuild Mic on the machine, the recording stops. So, essentially, the Mic on the headset is not recognized. How do I configure it so that, the headset's Mic is identified?

Hi,

I work for Dell's Social Media Team. You will need to check if the Headphone microphone is getting detected, and if its set to the default device. Click on start, control panel, sound, click on the recording tab, right click on the Headphone if its getting detected, click on set as default device and enable it.
