Dell Inspirion N5110 Microphone Does Not Work

I recently bought a Dell Inspirion N5110 but the built in microphone does not work with applications such as skype. Please can you let me know how to fix this. Thanks

Open start -> control panel -> Hardware and sound -> sounds -> manage audio devices

in the playback tab of Sound dialog box set speakers as default device and in the recording tab set Microphone array (IDT high definition audio CODEC) as default device and click OK.

In skype test your call with Echo/Test service near to call button select the sound setting button select microphone array in the Microphone tab and test the call. when the call starts speak something if it plays back then your built in mic is working good.
