If your laptop has a built-in wireless adapter, try connecting the router directly to the laptop, go online and access your router's configuration settings (you'll probably need your routers user manual to do this), and change the channel to 11 so that it doesn't interfere with any other device that utilizes RF signals.  If it's an external wireless adapter, just make sure it's plugged in properly and secure.  Otherwise, refer to your laptop manufacturer.
