If the power LED on the laptop is on but there is no video displayed on the screen, connect an external monitor and check if you get any video. A good image on an external monitor means the issue could be with the video card.
Run the hardware diagnostics on the video card.
If an external monitor is not available, run the LCD BIST (if it’s a Dell system). To run the LCD BIST (Built in Self-test) press and hold the D key on the keyboard while pressing the power button, then release both at the same time.
This will initiate a grey screen, then Red, then Blue, then Green, then White, to allow you to inspect the entire LCD for color purity on each screen and to better identify defect such as cracks in the LCD or stuck pixels that may not be apparent in a normal viewing mode.
If LCD BIST fails, the LCD needs to be replaced.
