Dte Refusing To Help Remove A Fraudulent Account From Our Credit, Who Can Help U

We have been trying to reach a DTE representative who can help us remove a fraudulent account that DTE is reporting on our credit report. We have filed an FTC report as well as a police report, but the representatives whom we speak with at DTE refuse to give us any help or information as to how we can remove this from our credit. We ask for a supervisor, but we are told that they are not available and would call me back, but we never get a call. On our last call, DTE claimed that they would give our account to an investigator, but didn't get any of the above mentioned information for proof, nor would they give us a number to call the fraud department directly. Again asked for supervisor, again no success. What each representative that we spoke to did say was that if we went ahead and paid the debt, they would report it accodingly to the credit agency. This is extortion. It is not our debt and we should not be bullied into paying it. They know we reporting this as fraud and won't accept our documentation nor let us speak with someone in charge. We are applying for a mortgage and found this derogatory mark on our credit and need to get this cleared up immediately. This will have a long term impact on our mortgage rate and it is unacceptable. I am hoping to find someone to help us. We are up against a timeline.
