According to the parts manual, the LTX 1040 uses a Kohler SV590 engine. Per the Kohler service manual, that engine uses either 5W-30, 10W-30, or SAE 30 oil, depending on the climate where the mower will be used. (If your model has a different engine, it may need different oil.)
