You can call customer service to disconnect or suspend you phone. They can temporarily suspend your line up to 30 days if you want to keep your number but can't get a new phone yet. Handset protection plan is also convinient if you keep loosing your phone.

You can also go online to your account. there's an opton there for lost phones. they won't be able to retrieve your phone though.
