Why Is Craigslist Trying To Charge Me A $5.00 Posting Fee When All I Do Is Lawn

I am a one man lawn and property care business in Hawaii. I have no employees, I make very little yet they think it is Ok to charge me a $5.00 posting fee for any add I do I have been trying to get help but no one returns any email or text that I send. I have been trying to find out what is going on as I want to follow your rules correctly but I cannot help from anyone at Craigslist. No help no advice.

Sorry for your problems--but we're an independent help site not connected with Craigslist. You've referenced 2 issues, regarding Craigslist's customer service and Craigslist's fees.

(1) It's unfortunately true that Craigslist has essentially no customer service. That's due to the fact that Craigslist has an immense user base and tiny staff, and (your situation notwithstanding) the vast bulk of its services are free. There's a "contact us" link (you can use https://losangeles.craigslist.org/contact), but don't count on any response or action.

(2) Craigslist sets its fees as what it thinks are fair. You can express your contrary opinion using the above link. You can also post at a review/complaint site like https://www.gripeo.com/, http://www.consumeraffairs.com/, or https://www.yelp.com/, each of which is designed to get action from the offending companies.

All craigslist postings are free, except for:

Job postings in selected areas-$7-75 (fee varies by area)
Brokered apartment rentals in NYC area-$10
Various by-dealer categories in the US-$3-5
Cars/trucks by-dealer in the US, Vancouver BC-$5
Furniture by-dealer in the US, Vancouver BC-$3
Gigs in US and selected CA areas-$3-5
Services in US (except therapeutic see below) and CA-$5
Therapeutic services in the US-$10 (reposts of live ads $5)

Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted.

Anyone posting under jobs gets charged money. like I said try posting in community and you will not get charged.
