1. You do not need an account to check your post, if it's still active. Unless you've deleted it, it will remain active for anywhere between 7 and 45 days, as laid out in this chart. To bring up your active ad, just search for it in the appropriate category.

2. If your post is no longer active you can ordinarily go back farther by logging in. As you correctly observe, you need your password to log in. It's impossible to say why Craigslist won't accept your password, if it's correctly spelled. So if that's the case, you're out of luck. Sorry.
