Power Take Off (pto)

The mower deck does not engage when i pull the PTO button.  The first time i tried this spring, it engaged briefly (5 seconds) and then it stopped.  I pushed/pulled the button and it engaged for a couple of seconds, then stopped.  After that, nothing. It worked fine when i parked it for the winter last fall.
