Power On Password Dilemma
why was I unable to input my power on password on my PC

Most Compaq's have a link on the motherboard that resets the CMOS. This will remove any password set up on the motherboard. It also resets the hardware. Look for a small 3 pin connector with a 2piece link over 2 pins. It is necessary to move the link across to the opposite pair ie (reverse it to the centre and empty pin).
