I Am Trying To Connect My Laptop To A Samsung Lcd Tv Via A Hdmi Cable - No Signa

I am trying to connect my compaq 325 laptop to my Samsung LCD TV (series 3) using a HDMI cable I bought a few days ago from Tesco.  The TV screen says No signal - I have tried quite a few things but now I'm stumped.

I believe that the VGA driver software may not be installed on your computer that is why it cannot detect the HDMI cable. You have to install the driver software to use either an HDMI feature or VGA. The latest driver software for this laptop model can be downloaded here:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=4173260&locale=en_us&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=4173255&prodTypeId=321957

Install the driver software and restart your computer. Refer to the user's manual here for additional information.
