Reimbursement Of My Monies For Hotel Stay Due To Hurricane And Hotel Not Ready

I had planned a cruise a year ago and I was spending a couple of days in Puerto Rico but since then the island was hit by a hurricane. I am having difficulties in getting my money back. I am not being hit with resort fees... We would have stayed in the hotel had it been ready. I feel this is so unfair. What can I do to get my money back? When talking with hotel personnel in Puerto Rico they have been so nasty and lots of attitude. This is no way to treat people when you would want them to visit and support your island again in the future.
