This may be caused by one of several factors
1. Misconfigured connections settings
2. Absence of a valid data plan
3. Corrupted data cache (on the particular application you are experiencing this from) - to clear cache, navigate to
> Settings
> Applications
> Manage Applications
> All
> select the affected App - the tap clear cache...
