Car Won't Start When Hot

We recently replaced the cam shaft positioning sensor. Now after the car has been driven and at operating temp. It does not want to restart. The fan operates even if the engine is cool, all lights and gages operate, BUT, the temp gage does not operate. Turn the key and all gages and lights stop operating. No clicks, nothing but silence. Problem is intermittent. What would cause the radiator fan to operate, temp gage not operate and car not start?
