Cooling Mode On Came On My 2010 Chevy Hhr, Should I Bring This In For Service?

It's been a very hot summer and I noticed that the "Cooling Mode On" message came on the dashboard of my 2010 Chevy HHR. The temperature gauge reading is high and saw that the "Cooling Mode On" message would come on when the needle reached the red zone. I also could hear the fan would still be on after the engine was turned off. Should I bring the car in for service?
