New customer - had an answering machine at the time and did not choose to use (but paid for) the voice mail option at the time, but want to now

Call *98 from your home phone (the number that will be assigned to the voicemail box). Follow the voice prompts to set up your mailbox. You will need to set up a password and record your "name" to be used in the greeting that callers get for your mailbox. Either a name or your phone number will work. You can also record a personalized greeting if you choose to. Just did this for my Centurylink home phone, so it should work. BTW: number of rings before the voicemail service answers can only be changed by calling the Centurylink help line 1-800-669-7676.

Don't drive yourself crazy trying to find out how to set the number of rings before voicemail kicks in. It can only be done by calling CenturyLink. I called 800.824.2877 to get it done but that was after dialing another number and being referred to this one (specific to my area).
