My Powershot A710is Has Suddenly Stopped Focussing

Hi, for no apparent reason this usually very reliable camera has stopped wanting to focus. It will still zoom but even in Auto mode does not want to focus. Does this sound like software or mechanical problem? Any ideas? cheers STB

You may have inadvertently turned off the AF-assist beam. This is controlled from the Shooting menu. If this is not the case, you probably need professional service.
