How Can I Import Pictures From My Sdhc Card To My Imac Os Mountain Lion V10.8.4?

I just setup my new Pixma mx892. It is connected wirelessly. I can print, scan, copy without any problems. The printer itself recognizes the SDHC memory card without any problems, but I cannot get iphoto or the MP Navigator EX 5.1 software to recognize the card so that I can import my pictures. I've reinstalled the drivers and software as suggested by Canon tech support, but that has not resolved the problem. What am I missing?

Greetings - You can get a SDHC USB card reader as a last resort.
