There are several ways to scan. If you have Windows, the simplest is that described at http://kbsupport.cusa.canon.com/system/selfservice.controller?CONFIGURATION=1011&PARTITION_ID=1&secureFlag=false&TIMEZONE_OFFSET=&CMD=VIEW_ARTICLE&ARTICLE_ID=33280. You'll note that the scan button is onscreen (and you'll have a screen image for reference).
