6 Disc Cd Changer Error

I have a 04 cadillac Deville dts and the glove box 6d disc cd changer gives me a cd error.  I was wondering since the unit is in the glove box, can i purchase a new unit and just swamp them out.  I would imagine it would be a single connection in the back to disconnect and reconnect to new unit.  Also would this solve my cd error problem?  Just purchased the car.
