How To Open 1996 Buick Skylark Trunk That Has Latch That Is Not Working?

There was a problem with the trunk not closing. Finally, the trunk  was shut hard and now it won't open. It has a latch on the side of the driver's seat that stopped working and the ignition keys will not open the trunk.
