How do you program the garage door opener in the overhead lighting cluster?

No programing is needed. It actually is meant to hold a door opener button that clips on the visor. Pry open the panel next to the button and place the opener inside (usually held in place with velcro) and then replace the panel. Very low tech but does the job.
