How Do I Restart A Section In The Middle Of An Embroidery Project?

If my upper thread breaks early on in a section of embroidery, how can I go back and restart just that section without having to start the entire project over again?  There doesn't seem to be a way to do it that I can find.  Also if the upper thread breaks in the middle of a section, how do I back up and start again from the place it broke?  The manual does not address these issues and I need detailed instructions. Thanks.
