the bobbin thread gets bunched up, knots, and jams the machine. I've cleaned it out and wound a fresh bobbin but no improvement.

There could be several reasons why your needle is bunched up the bobbin thread. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.

1. The machines top thread is not threaded correctly. Check the threading path of the top thread and rethread your machine.

2. The spool cap maybe installed incorrectly or the wrong spool cap was used on the machine.

3. Make sure the needle thread is behind the needle bar thread guide on the needle bar.

4. The thread maybe knotted or tangled. Cut the tangled thread and remove it from the bobbin area.

5. The thread is too thick for the needle. Check the table of fabrics, thread and needle combinations, select the correct combination of thread and needle to be used.

6. The upper thread tension is too tight. Adjust the top thread tension accordingly.

7. The needle is bent or the end of the needle is blunt and needs to be replaced with a new needle.

8. There are scratches around the needle hole in the needle plate. Replace the needle plate with a new one by loosening the two screws on the needle plate.

9. There are scratches around the hole in the presser foot. Replace the presser foot.

10. The bobbin is set incorrectly. Insert your bobbin into the inner rotary hook so that is flat in the bottom and the thread is behind the bobbin spring of the inner rotary hook.

11. There are scratches on the bobbin, replace with a new bobbin.

If problem persist take your machine to the nearest Authorized Brother Service Center for repair.

Thanks
