I find the manual confusing - I am trying to figure out how to adjust the upper tension? I am seeing face masks and it seems right at the end of every one everything is knitting up / fabric pulled down / and not moving forward.....

The upper thread tension is changed using the thread tension dial
  1. Sew trial stitches using thread and scrap fabric that are the same as those used for your project.
  2. Check the sewing results. If necessary, adjust the thread tension. Refer to the procedure below to turn the thread tension dial.
  3. Adjust the thread tension until the proper tension is achieved while checking the sewing results with trial sewing. more information here: https://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=as_ot&lang=en&prod=hf_inovnv180eas&faqid=faqh00101020_000#:~:text=Turn%20the%20thread%20tension%20dial%20clockwise%20to%20tighten%20the%20upper,set%20the%20correct%20thread%20tension.
