I can't find a service manual, but for your issue Bose recommends the following:

1. Turn off the amplifier or receiver and check all the connections between the speakers, amplifier, or receiver. Refer to Figure 3 at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/19566/Bose-701.html?page=7#manual.

2. Check the owner's guide for your amplifier or receiver, since other components may be the cause of the problem.

3. Review the Solution for the first-listed Problem at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/19566/Bose-701.html?page=8.
