Easyvac Compact
I've lost suction and just found a "black band" it's not snapped but I'm not sure if it's part of the vacuum or not?

If you have an Easy Vac and found a black band this means your belt broke. Unplug your unit and take off the brush cover plate. Try spinning the brush with your fingers. If it does not spin several revolutions freely you will need to replace it, as this is the reason your belt probably broke. If the brush does spin freely and easily, you can just order a new belt and replace it following the instructions in the below video link. Here is a link to get the brush and belt for your unit:
