Accura 3000 Has No Ring Sound From Callers

I had no idea my phone wasn't working until someone rang my mobile to tell me they'd been trying my landline. I tried phoning myself and true enough theres ringing from the callers end but not on my landline and the answer machine doesn't come on either. The top red light flashes but no sound. I've altered the ring volume but still no joy.
