Mic Signal

I'm plugging my condenser mic into the UM2 but I'm not getting a signal through the mic and the signal light does not come on, or it may flash briefly when I'm plugging/unplugging the mic or messing with the Phantom Power switch or the mic ON switch. I don't know if the problem is the mic or the interface.
