The First National Bank of Boston is listed as transfer agent for stock certificates that are in my possession and trying to settle an estate and need to get a value of the stock and to liquidate same.

Yes! The First National Bank of Boston was dissolved into Bank of America Corp. when BofA acquired Fleet Boston Financial. However, if its stocks issued separatly from First Boston Corp. (the investment-banking arm), than its a part of Credit Suisse.
