Trunk

Neither the trunk button in the car nor the trunk key is working, why?

First check a lever on the side of the latch to see if it's been moved to key only. If it's in the "lock" position you'll get the behavior you're seeing. The function is on page 1-56 of the owner's manual. If that's not in lock it's an issue.

This can happen to any vehicle with electric latch release. It's usually a mechanical issue with the trunk latch but can be an electrical issue if the fuse has blown or the BCM has an electrical issue and can't drive the motor in the latch. If you can hear a motor running in the trunk but nothing happens when you hit the button it's probably mechanical. If you hear no action the motor or it's wiring has an issue. If the regular key tumbler on the trunk works and you can get in with a key it's not so bad as someone stuck in an electric only model like a lot of more recent cars.
