Station Wagon Hard Downshift

I just baught a 2002 525i wagon (it has an M5 sport package on it) with 118,000 & when it is hot or run for a while on the highway it seems to downshift HARD when slowing down quickly or stopping. No slipping or anything unusuall when accellerating though. It seems to slam into the lower gear. Is this the transmission? is this normal? Thanx a lot

It's not mormal. Take it to a trusted mechanic or service center to check the transmission. Good luck!
