Locked Door Won't Open

We have an old W6462 model. The entire electric panel was just recently replaced. But now the washer turned itself off mid-cycle with the door locked. We can't get the machine to turn back on (after unplugging and replugging), and the door won't open (with clothes inside). We cannot find any emergency door opener - it doesn't have the red pull cord near the drain tube that other other models have. We tried a putty knife in the door, but that didn't work either. How can we get the door open? Qualified repair people are impossible to find.

Why is my washer locked and won't open?

Turning off the machine at the mains should allow the door lock to cool down and open after a few minutes. ... The most common cause is water left in machine. Try running a spin/drain cycle. If this fails, the machine can be drained by placing the washing machine drain hose lower than the drum (into a bucket or tray).

How do you open a locked washing machine without power?

Turn the washing machine off and unplug it.

This is the most common solution for top loaders. ...

Like manual machines, some electronic locks automatically flip into the unlocked position after 5-10 minutes so that you can get your clothes during a power outage.

How do you open a locked washing machine lid?

To unlock the lid:

Pausing the machine will allow you to open the lid.

During the spin cycle, pausing the washer does unlock the lid, but you must wait until the basket has completely coasted down to a stop before the lid unlocks, for safety reasons.
