This may be because you left you updates on and the phone used up the data to update your apps and other system softwares.
Doesn't happen otherwise. Please go to settings nd switch of unwanted assistance provided by your cellphone . It will save your Internet data and battery charge .

Turn off google update from the app store' instructions here
