Although Amazon's prices are often very low, that is not always the case. First of all, many of Amazon's offerings are sold by independent parties who simply contract with Amazon, and their prices are set by those parties. Second, when Amazon's prices are higher, those higher prices can be justified by non-price considerations such as easy free returns and, with minimum purchase, free shipping.

Bought more than 30 products ranging from Rs 150 to 12.5k in Flipkart and it has same product sold completely at different prices just because the sellers are different. Same is with Amazon. ... Our very favorite amazon focus on customer satisfaction. Whereas flipkart focuses on turnover and growth.

Sometimes these satisfaction level comes with a price tag which is more than other ecommerce websites.

Thanks

Without knowing the specific item, I can only give the general answer. Items for sale at Amazon are not being sold by one person. There are many companies, sole proprietors, and individual people that are selling products. They set the prices they want to charge. As long as they do not gouge the consumer or mislead, they are allowed to charge as they choose. Keeping in mind, they are charged fees to sell their items by Amazon.

For general household goods, Amazon is cheaper and has better collection, right from soaps to mattresses, Amazon is better. But Flipkart is better in high value goods. Mobile, Tablets and other electronics are significantly cheaper on Flipkart than Amazon, especially on Big Billion Days

On e-commerce platforms, prices of products are very variable and might even get changed multiple times in a day. Some of the contributing factors are:
  • Fee charged to sellers for the same product could be different across different platforms. To maintain their profit margins, sellers set prices basis the fee outgo
  • Different sets of sellers across different platforms for the same product. As cost of purchase from their upstream vendors varies, their pricing also varies
  • Deals running for a product on one platform and not the other

Amazon has a lot of sellers on its platform and the seller base is not restricted to only one country.

There are sellers from other countries too who sell on Amazon which makes the website have a wide range of products and relatively cheaper price when compared to products on Flipkart.

There are also better discounts on Amazon when compared to Flipkart which makes it all the more beneficial to shop from it.

All in all, Amazon scores over Flipkart on most fronts and thus has the cheapest price among all e-commerce stores.
