No Internal Storage

I bought my phone a couple months ago and I have always had a problem with downloading apps. Just recently I had 48MB available and yet it wouldn't let me download an app that was 8.46MB. I deleted one of my 3 apps that my phone allows me to download and it still wouldn't let me download and now it won't let me add that app back. This phone did an update on Friday and now it says I have no internal storage and it's stopping programs now even though I have not added anything to my phone and have in fact deleted things. Phone does not register my sd card either for apps to download to. It makes me download directly to the phone.
