Mislead About A Job That Was Promised

I was interviewed by advance auto parts in cumberland, ky. told i was hired, given a drug screen and told would be hired pending my drug screen. after passing my drug screen was told to come to the store to start work. upon reaching the store i was told they had not got my background check they had sent for. i have been waiting almost a month and keep in check with the mananger of the store, joe, regularly for the status of my background check. during this time someone else has been hired in my spot and i feel i have been mislead about this job. thinking i had been hired, i discontinued my job hunt as well turned a couple of jobs down and now im unemployed and am not happy about the way ive been treated and mislead by this company. is there anything i can do about this?
